The details
Southwest introduced Senior Fares in 1983 and sunset the program on December 11, 2019 (the last day they could be booked, with final travel by May 15, 2020). The fares had given travelers 65+ a fully refundable ticket at a reduced price. Southwest said the same benefits are largely available through its everyday Wanna Get Away fares, which are its cheapest tickets and generate reusable travel funds if you cancel. Today, seniors save on Southwest the same way everyone does: the Low Fare Calendar, fare sales, and booking early.
